Gutters, Guards, Soffit & Fascia
iRestore STL installs and replaces gutters across Belleville and the Metro East, along with gutter guards, soffit and fascia. Same licensed crew that handles our roofing.
Gutters are the least interesting part of a house right up until they stop working, at which point they become one of the most expensive. Water that should be leaving the roof ends up in the fascia, down the siding, against the foundation, and eventually in the basement.
Gutter installation & replacement
Seamless aluminum gutters formed to the length of your roofline, with downspouts sized and placed to actually carry the volume your roof sheds. Undersized downspouts are the reason a lot of gutters overflow in heavy rain even though nothing is blocked.
Every gutter we fit is formed on site. The coil goes through the machine on your driveway and comes out as one continuous length for each run — no joints along the run to work loose and drip in five years. That is what “seamless” actually means, and it is why we do not carry pre-cut lengths on the truck.
- 5-inch and 6-inch — 5″ suits most homes. 6″ carries roughly 40% more water and is the right call on steep roofs, large roof areas, or anywhere you have watched gutters overflow in a downpour.
- 40 colors to choose from — enough to match existing trim, fascia or siding properly rather than settling for “close enough”. Worth taking seriously: gutters run the full length of every elevation, and a near-miss on color is visible from the street for the next twenty years.
- Full replacement — new gutters, hangers and downspouts
- Partial replacement where one run has failed and the rest is sound
- Downspout re-routing to move water away from the foundation
- Commercial gutter work alongside our commercial roofing
Warranty
Two separate things are covered, over two different periods.
- The material. We form our gutters from Rollex aluminum coil, which carries a limited lifetime warranty against peeling, chipping, cracking, splitting, flaking and rust. Color change and chalking are separately warranted for 25 years — worth knowing, because those are the two that get conflated.
- Our workmanship. Two years on every gutter project we install. If a run fails because of how we hung it, we come back and put it right.
We will confirm the exact terms that apply to your job before anything is ordered. A warranty nobody has read is not worth much.
Gutter guards and inserts
Guards sit over or inside the gutter and keep leaves, twigs and roof debris out while letting water through. On a house with mature trees anywhere near it, they are usually worth what they cost within a couple of seasons — purely in ladders not climbed.
The system we fit most often is Shur Flo, made by U.S. Aluminum. It is hi-temper aluminum rather than plastic or mesh, so it will not rust, rot or distort, and it comes in mill finish, black or white for both 5″ and 6″ gutters.
It carries a 25-year transferable warranty against defects, plus a 10-year no-clog warranty. Transferable matters more than it sounds: it survives you selling the house, which is worth something to a buyer.
What that warranty does not cover, and we would rather say it here than in a dispute: hail, wind-blown objects, fire, flood and vandalism are all excluded. In this market that is not a footnote — hail is the most likely thing to damage them. The good news is that storm damage to gutters and guards is frequently covered by your home insurance instead, and we have a Licensed Public Adjuster on staff who documents exactly that. See our claims work.
Where a job calls for something different we will fit a comparable system instead — the choice should follow the house and the trees around it, not what we happen to stock.
What we will not tell you: that they are maintenance-free. Guards stop the leaves. Fine grit and shingle granules still work their way in over years. The honest version is that a guarded gutter needs looking at roughly once a year instead of cleaning out every autumn — a real difference, just not the one the infomercial promises.
Soffit and fascia
These two get ignored until something else forces the issue, and they are worth understanding because both affect the roof itself.
Fascia is the board along the roof edge that the gutters are attached to. When gutters overflow for long enough, the water rots it from behind. New gutters fixed to soft fascia will not hold, which is why we check it before quoting a gutter job rather than after.
Soffit is the underside of the roof overhang, and vented soffit is how outside air gets into your attic. Blocked, painted-over or damaged soffit means the attic cannot breathe. Heat builds up underneath the deck and cooks the shingles from the inside, which is one of the quieter reasons a roof fails years earlier than it should.
We repair and replace both, in aluminum or vinyl, and match to the existing where we can.
All the metal on the house, not just the gutters
Gutters are the part people call about, but they are one item on a longer list. We do the full exterior metal package, and it is usually cheaper and tidier to do it in one visit than to bring a crew back twice.
- Seamless gutters and downspouts — 5″ and 6″, formed on site
- Gutter guards — insert systems fitted to the gutter
- Fascia — capped or replaced
- Soffit — vented or solid, aluminum or vinyl
- Window wraps — aluminum capping over the exterior window trim, so the wood underneath stops needing paint and stops rotting
- Garage door wraps — the jambs and header round the garage opening, which take more weather than almost anything else on the house
Wrapping is the one homeowners tend not to know about, and it is the one that quietly saves the most work. Bare wood trim on windows and garage openings needs scraping and repainting every few years. Capped in aluminum, it does not — and it carries the same finish warranty as the gutters.
Storm damage and insurance claims
Hail dents gutters and wind pulls them loose in the same storms that damage roofs — and gutters are routinely under-scoped or missed entirely when the adjuster comes out for the roof.
iRestore STL has a Licensed Public Adjuster on staff. If your gutters, soffit or fascia took damage, we document them as part of the same claim rather than leaving you to argue it separately later. There is no extra charge to inspect all of it at once.
Doing it with a roof
If your roof is close to replacement, doing the gutters at the same time is almost always the cheaper path. One crew, one mobilisation, one schedule, and the new gutters never have to come off again to get the roof done. If the roof has years left, we will say so and just do the gutters.
See our roof replacement, siding and commercial roofing pages.
What it costs, and paying for it
Gutters are one of the smaller jobs we do, and most people pay for them outright. If you are doing gutters alongside a roof, or the number is bigger than you expected, financing is available on approved credit — the same options we offer on roofing. See our financing page for what is on the table.
Every gutter installation carries the same workmanship guarantee as our roofing work. If something we installed fails because of how we installed it, we come back and fix it. That is separate from the manufacturer's warranty on the material itself, which we will walk you through before anything is ordered.
Common Questions
- Do gutter guards mean I never clean my gutters again?
- No, and anyone who tells you otherwise is selling. Guards keep leaves and the bulk of the debris out, which turns a job you dread into one you barely think about. Fine grit and shingle granules still work through over time. Expect a check once a year rather than a ladder every autumn.
- Can I replace gutters without replacing the roof?
- Yes, and plenty of our gutter work is gutter-only. That said, if the roof is within a couple of years of replacement it is usually cheaper to do both at once — same crew, same setup, and the new gutters do not get handled twice.
- What is fascia, and why does it keep coming up?
- Fascia is the board running along the roof edge that your gutters are fixed to. When gutters overflow for long enough, the water rots the fascia behind them. At that point new gutters alone will not hold — they are being screwed into soft wood. It is the single most common thing we find behind a failing gutter.
- Why does soffit matter for my roof?
- Soffit is the underside of the roof overhang, and vented soffit is how air gets into your attic. Blocked or damaged soffit means the attic cannot breathe, which cooks the shingles from underneath and shortens the life of the roof. It is one of the quieter reasons a roof fails early.
- Will insurance cover storm-damaged gutters?
- Often, yes — hail dents gutters and wind tears them loose in the same storms that damage roofs. Gutters are also one of the first things an adjuster under-scopes. We have a Licensed Public Adjuster on staff who documents them properly as part of the same claim.
- Do you do commercial gutter work?
- Yes. Commercial buildings usually need larger capacity and different downspout placement than a house, and we handle both alongside our commercial roofing work.
