This row is usually the most vulnerable to high winds so you should pay special attention to it.

However, if you’re looking for a more long-term solution, you can opt to add fasteners or hurricane straps. For fasteners, galvanized ring-shank nails are considered to have more holding power than smooth nails. Meanwhile, hurricane straps are used for added stability. If you’re in the process of roof replacement, you might want to use synthetics for the underlayment. Synthetics are typically more wind-resistant than felt.

Strengthen the Soffits

Then, you should install stainless screws through the fascia and channels, connecting the soffit material.

Sealant should be applied in the grooves where they butt up against the wall channel and fascia. Apply caulk to the bottom of the trim piece as well.
